Travel Plan

As part of your development, a Travel Plan has been prepared which sets out the objectives and benefits of the Travel Plan. This document also sets out the targets and measures which will be in place across the monitoring period. The objectives of the Travel Plan include:

Reduce the reliance on the private car and promote sustainable modes of travel
Develop an awareness of the options for sustainable travel to and from the site amongst residents
Promote car sharing, walking, cycling and public transport as safe, efficient, affordable alternatives to private cars and highlight the health and environmental benefits of using sustainable travel modes
Minimise the impact of car-based travel to the site on the local and strategic highway network and environment

Targets will be set following an initial baseline survey and will be agreed with Hertfordshire County Council. The success of the Travel Plan will be measured on whether the targets have been achieved and will be reviewed throughout the 5-year monitoring period.

Travel Plan Incentives

A travel voucher worth £50 for flats and £100 for houses will be provided to the initial occupants of each residential dwelling. With flexible options, you have the opportunity to choose an option that suits you and your household:

Option 1 – a choice of bus or rail pass. Choose a pass or season ticket which suits you for bus or rail travel from King George’s Vale.

Option 2 – a contribution towards the purchase of a new bicycle and/or cycling equipment of your choice.

Option 3 – Bikeability training of up to 4 members of the household.

How does it work?

Please purchase your bus or rail ticket, cycling equipment or Bikeability training and follow the steps below.

Proof of purchase in the form of a receipt
Your plot number and address (this is to ensure one voucher per household)
Proof of address
Bank details (Full Name, Account Number, Sort Code)

We will then be in touch to confirm details about your Travel Plan Voucher.
